Fed: Vice chancellors deny damning claims

University leaders have rejected allegations of bribe-taking and tampering with students'
marks, as universities compete for the education dollar.

Labor Senator KIM CARR says he'll put to a Senate committee claims that in at least
one case a large sum of money was paid to a university.

Senator CARR says academics too afraid to air their claims should be able to give evidence
to the committee under parliamentary privilege.
